motdujour – word of the day,

I have worked, lived with and loved colour since I was very young. My experience in the film industry in the early 90′s working on Pop Promos and Feature films gave me a strong grounding in a multitude of skills that I have condensed to now to be ultimately on tap for motdujour.

Sourcing unusual objects, making models and maquettes for film sets, using materials as diverse as copper, plaster, lead and ceramics.Firing up kilns full of porcelain,& moulding in latex. I had the privilege of learning the skills of paint finishes, including techniques and effects from a talented pool of professional film industry Set Designers, painters and prop makers.I learned not only the skills, but also how to achieve a great deal on a tight budget. Understanding the budgeting, scheduling, and  strategies involved to meet deadlines with several departments/teams at any one time has  given me tremendous grounding for translation into ‘project managing’.

To establish motdujour I have focussed on building a skilled and talented team of trade and crafts people incorporating ‘tidy’ painters, quick turnaround cabinet makers, builders with vacuum cleaners and plasterers with a conscience. And finally , myself with the colour and spatial advice to help you achieve an intuitive space for the function you need at home.
